international string quartet competition of Weidener Max-Reger-Tage

Since 2002 the Weidener Max-Reger-Tage sponsorship award is arranged in changing categories. This year it will be presented for string quartets.

To fulfill the eligibility requirements the average age of the quartet must not be above 30 years.

The jury of the competition chaired by Prof. Dr. Siegfried Mauser, principal of the academy of music and theatre in Munich, will decide about the awarding of the prizes in the amount of 10.000,-€ altogether. Furthermore the winners will be invited to play at concerts of the Weidener Max-Reger-Tage and other following concerts respectively. The competition will end with a concert of the winners.

The repertoire of the competition includes a first movement out of Max Reger's string quartets, the quartets of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven and a quartet/movement of a 19th and a 20th century composition each.

Participants must apply by July 15, 2010 at latest in written form to the organization office of the Weidener Max-Reger-Tage festival.
